How fmcg consumer products contribute to garbage disposal problem today
Who’s responsible for roadside rubbish?
The three prime reasons, to throwing garbage and accumulation on the road.
Cast system in our society. Most people think that cleaning is  “others” job and those others are of different caste. Countries of similar economic status ( Thailand, Sri Lanka etc.) are cleaner then India.
Economics : Poor countries, unemployed dwellings, ghettoes, places of crime, all over the world are dirty compared to rich.
And India is a poor country?
Poor selection of governance : We still vote based on caste, so no one is worried about cleanliness. In every city even the municipal and state election are contested on “nationalism” and “religion and god”. So naturally the roadside grabage awaits a god’s miracle.Â
What if all e-commerce site imposes a rule on sellers to pack products themselves in eco-friendly bags and covers?

For any FMCG brand, packaging design development is a priority task and one of the most serious challenges.Â
What is municipal solid Waste?
Municipal solid waste is waste that has been generated by individuals, households, communities, small and large businesses, and institutions like schools and hospitals.
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)—more commonly known as trash or garbage—consists of everyday items we use and then throw away, such as product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles, food scraps, newspapers, appliances, paint, and batteries.

Each package faces the task of being as efficient as possible from several points of view at once: minimizing production costs, maximizing the shelf life of the product, attractive packaging design for the consumer, correct positioning and presentation of information, as well as in terms of compliance with all relevant national and international requirements and trends in for recycling and environmental protection.Â
The garbage in the entire world’s oceans is 70% plastic, which is not recyclable, but forms huge garbage islands or causes the death of many marine animals.

The European Parliament has already imposed serious restrictions on the use of plastic as packaging material. Today, you can’t find plastic bags at the cash desks of European retail chains. From 2021, plastic dishes and food containers, plastic ear sticks, plastic balloon sticks and much more will be completely banned.
Therefore it is highly important to impose eco-friendly packages to all organisations

What happens to all our garbage?
Where does all of our garbage go?
Landfills or big enough incinerator burners to reduce it to a bare minimum. The garbage can be melted down and used again will be harvested for other things and can power energy for other resources
Our Garbage provides jobs. The old way of throwing it away on a dumpster is long gone. It is a very high tech industry extracting needed resources that we would think mundane.
The household garbage comes back into your household with a new beginning of something you purchased without even knowing it.
What does garbage include?
What are the seven types of garbage?
Liquid or Solid Household Waste. This can be called ‘municipal waste’ or ‘black bag waste’ and is the type of general household rubbish we all have. …
Hazardous Waste. …
Medical/Clinical Waste. …
Electrical Waste (E-Waste) …
Recyclable Waste. …
Construction & Demolition Debris. …
Green Waste.
What happens to all our garbage?
A simple answer for the above question
The amount of Garbage collected is so huge and disposing it is a greater problem.
Burning of garbage leads to the release of smoke and poisonous fumes into the environment.
Garbage cannot be thrown into water, it causes water pollution
Usually, city garbage is disposed in the low lying open area called as landfill.
The garbage that cannot be reused is spread over the landfill and covered with soil.
When the landfill is completely full, it is converted into park/ playground.
Also these days what you call garbage has now become recycling.
What is business waste?

How could you get rid of the bad smell of garbage in the summer?
You don’t let it accumulate. If you don’t hoard garbage, you won’t have to smell it. Nor will you have to risk sickness from exposure to whatever bacteria and mold might fester in it. You also won’t attract the worms that will come to feed in it. No cockroaches, mice, rats, dogs, cats, crows, or other creepy crawly sakes… Plus the neighbors. The disapproving looks. The visits from local health code enforcement. There’s one easy solution…
TAKE OUT THE TRASH EVERY MORNING.
How Food wastage is shocking today?
At an marraige reception dinner of an acquaintance .There were almost 200 people , and a buffet was arranged.
Guests were stuff their plates with free stuff, have one spoon each and dump the rest so as to not look “greedy”.
They stack up their plates without thinking about the waste generated.
Another breed of people think the sink is a garbage dump and the leftovers will magically disappear.

Most of the people understand that they paid for it, so it’s their right to decide the fate of food.
According to the UNICEF report, Over 20 crore Indians sleep empty-stomach every day. More than 7000 Indians die per day due to hunger.

PLEASEÂ DONT WASTE FOOD.
A NATION COULD EAT OFF THE AMOUNT OF FOOD WE WASTE

Why do climate change deniers resist changes in energy production which would reduce the air, soil, and water pollution and result in a healthier world for everyone?

The real source of pollution and damage to the environment is due to exponentially increasing human population. The Earth now hosts 15 times as many people as in the immediatdly pre-industrial 1700’s, and there will be 40% more in just the next 80 years. Every one consuming, demanding, polluting, pursuing their “right” to a home, a car, and lots of “stuff”.
Human population explosion is directly accountable for massive habitat destruction, pollution, resource depletion, garbage in the oceans, all plastic pollution and animal endangerment, ocean and river pollution, depletion of aquifers and natural rivers, extreme overfishing of our oceans, contamination of soil and air, and the list goes on and on.
As Pogo said, “we have met the enemy, and he is us”.
After witnessing multiple garbage crises occurring across European countries, the European Union (EU) strives to ensure that all sorts of waste remains locked & sealed in disposable bags. Changing lifestyles and growing urbanization observed across European countries has triggered the use of garbage bags, compelling people to avert health hazards emanating from open dumping. Future Market Insights’ latest research report on Europe’s garbage bags market estimates that in 2016, more than US$ 1.5 billion worth of garbage bags were consumed. It has been projected that by the end of 2026, Europe’s garbage bag sales will rise steadily at 5% CAGR and reach US$ 2.52 billion in value.

What is the problem of garbage?
The Garbage when not properly disposed it leads to severe environmental problems and various health care issues. one of the most dangerous garbage we are producing in large amounts is Plastics.
Plastics have become a serious environmental, because of their widespread usage.
Careless disposal of Plastics causes the blocks in drains, block the soil and hinders the absorption of water by soil.
Animals eat the leftover food packed in plastic bags, along with the plastic bags. It causes choke and kill them

Plastic bags can contaminate foodstuffs because of the poisonous dyes getting absorbed into food.
· When plastics are burned, they give out harmful gases that cause pollution, health problems, even cancer too.
· There are many recycling enterprises arised. Through rag pickers, waste collectors, waste dealers, 60-80% of plastic bag generated are recycled.

How is garbage collected in India?
People are expected to recycle / sort their refuse as follows:
~ clean, dry paper;
~ glass bottles & jars;
~ kitchen waste such as vegetable scraps & teabags;
~ tin + plastic + tetrapaks; and
~ actual non-recyclable garbage.

Then each kind is placed in a colour-coded bin or bag (depending on the category) and collected by the municipality on certain days.
Special arrangements can be made to have bulky items such as old appliances / furniture collected and taken away.
If one has excess refuse / recycling due to a dinner party / garden clean up – or a way to haul away large items – then each town (called a Comune) has a municipal rubbish dump to take things to.
There are also optional bags for households who have baby / adult diapers to dispose of.
The City has come up with a few clever ways to get lazy and careless people to comply and sirt their garbage properly.

Which nation produces the highest quantity of garbage?
As a nation, Americans generate more waste than any other nation in the world with 4.5 pounds (2.0 kg) of municipal solid waste (MSW) per person per day, fifty five percent of which is contributed as residential garbage.

Why should we dispose of garbage safely?
Consider going to a beach or river, where there is a lot of trash. Would you like to see the scenery?
Would you go for a swim?
Obviously not, right? As a result, we must be mindful of our trash. Consider what would happen if everyone did these small actions like disposing garbage properly. The earth would be far cleaner, greener, and cooler than it currently is.

What are some changes we can bring into practice to reduce household Garbage?
When you go for shopping take a cloth bag with you :
Keep 2 or 3 bags of same kind. Ask vegetables to be directly put into one bag without paper or plastic. Sort it out at home.
While purchasing grocery insist on paper bags from shop keepers otherwise purchase & carry yourself :
Buy loose rather than sealed & packed :
Purchase loose oil in steel can :
This way reduce or recycle as much garbage especially plastic.
While cutting vegetables or meat , throw all that in a pot filled with mud. It becomes vermicompost later. Plant some plants in it too if needed.
Change all plastic cans at home to glass or steel. Use less plastic as much as possible. Substitute for wood or metal . Don’t purchase newspaper. Read online
