Why undestand FMCG sales management?
Sales management is the process of developing a sales force, coordinating sales operations and implementing sales techniques that allow a business to consistently hit, and even surpass, its sales targets.
If your business brings in any revenue at all, a sales management strategy is an absolute must. When it comes to managing sales and boosting sales performance for any size of operation, no matter the industry, the secret to success is always precise sales management processes. This starts with a great sales manager who knows how to inspire and lead a sales department.
Besides helping your company reach its sales objectives, the sales management system allows you to stay in tune with your industry as it grows and can be the difference between surviving and flourishing in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Whether you’re an experienced or new sales manager, you should be able to evaluate and gain visibility into your current sales force with the following guide to sales management.
Once you have a clear picture of what processes to monitor and how to keep track of them, you’ll be equipped to pinpoint issues early on, coach people before it’s too late and have a better overview of the tasks the team should be doing to increase its sales.
If you’re a FMCG sales representative
The three key aspects of sales management
There are three umbrellas to manage within the sales process:
Sales operations
Sales strategy
Sales analysis
The process will vary from business to business, especially as you work your way down the line, but operations, strategy and analysis are the three key starting or focal points.
Is it necessary to work as a salesman before taking entry into marketing? Is sales experience helps marketing person to create effective marketing campaign?
What is the best market to be working for as a FMCG salesman?
Best market to be working as a salesman:
The best market to be working as a salesman is the one:
which you associate yourself with the customer’s problem easily and feel passionate enough to go out of your way, to help the customer solve his problem.
Salesmen truly believe in the solution. (what does it mean?)
Do you passionately believe that electric powered cars are good for humanity? Do you care about humanity more than anything else? Do you love cars?
Then perhaps you should go sell Tesla products.
Product Doesn’t Matter:
Jordan is wrong. Could you sell water at a gas station, instead of gas?
No.
An extreme example, but the reality is consumers, business owners, or professionals, make a purchase decision to solve a problem. If a product stops solving the problem, they’d stop selling.
e.g. what problem does a Lamborghini solve? It solves it’s owners need to be:
a. thrilled
b. perceived as who he wants to be.
The moment Lamborghini stops being the fastest car in the world and is no longer considered as a rich man’s toy, who needs balls made of brass to drive, Lamborghini would sell much fewer cars if any.
So firstly, remove any impression from your head, that you can sell anything. You can’t, because *selling* isn’t just about shipping a few pieces, but to actually build revenue, which can help sustain a business and grow into an institution one day.
Second Part of the Question: What’s easy to sell?
It’s easy to sell a car, than an enterprise software license. However, I am pretty sure, you care more about how much wealth you can create for yourself, than how easy it is to sell a product.
Therefore, this question, is quite irrelevant to your original question. No matter what you sell, you need to develop skills! If you invest in yourself, if you have found what you want to do, then you don’t need to be worried about whether or not it’s comparatively harder to be a sales man in that industry.
Caution:
Some marketplaces are very reciprocate the broader economic conditions such as real estate, stocks. Therefore, you may want to consider how reciprocatively is your market to economic conditions. However, whenever this risk is higher, the reward is higher as well. So it may not be a BIG problem, if you are a good financial manager; saving well for the rainy days.

Which is a better job, sales or marketing?
As with all complex questions the answer is “it depends”.
It depends on the type of company (in CPG companies marketing is MUCH more important than sales; in companies like Oracle, Sales is much more important than marketing. Which type of company do you work for?
It also depends on what you like. I need the adrenaline of the deal. I also like the highly leveraged compensation packages for high level enterprise sales. The downside is contained in the upside. You stand naked in front of the entire organization each and every year. Everyone knows how you are doing. There are no performance reviews. You either get deals done and make money or you go away.
Marketing is typically much less lucrative (in a sales type of organization) but also much less demanding on performance. You get your base, and if you supervisor thinks you did a good job you get some bonus. The metrics are softer than in sales.
Is it necessary to be good at sales to be good at marketing?

It is necessary to very good in ‘understanding’ sales, in order to be good at marketing.
I also think that a lot of people can be very good in sales and that you can learn how to do it a in a very efficient way. Some people are born with it, and some people learn from experience. But that doesn’t mean you’ll be good at marketing.
The thing with marketing is that it not in any way a plain ‘sale’ it is so much more than that. You have to understand how the human mind works, what interest different people in different places and in different age groups, you must think like a costumer, but in a very clever way, you have to think in Marketing Psychology terms!
You have to be always in the ‘game’- get to know all the latest tricks and popular platforms and understand how to use them best for your marketing campaigns – Instagram is a great example since it’s one of the best platforms to use for varies marketing campaigns. So, you have to become a pro and master all these different platforms and seize the opportunities.
Marketing is a rough business, especially because it’s competitive and ever ongoing. Some things in marketing never change, and some methods are so fundamental that the base is almost never changing (let’s call it sales psychology), but some things are ever changing, and you must always keep up.
What are the differences between sales and marketing?

Difference between Sales & Marketing has been a widely discussed topic for ages.
However, both the functions are critical for the long and short term success of any business.
Both the function drive ROI for a business and depend on each other for the overall success of an organization.
However, the way both the function to achieve organizational goals are different.
Marketing starts with a Consumer | Sales starts with a Product.
Marketing helps an organization understand what a consumer needs | Sales helps an organization understand how to sell a product to a consumer.
Marketing helps an organization develop a product that fits its consumer needs | Sales helps an organization get a customer who will buy an existing product
Marketing helps an organization generate interest for its product among its consumers | Sales helps an organization convert prospects into paying customers.
The horizon of a Marketing function is Long Term | Horizon of a Sales function is short term.
Marketing is a Pull Strategy. | Sales in a Push Strategy.
Relationship of Marketing function with consumer is informational. | Relationship of Sales function with consumer is generally Transactional.
Marketing is generally one to many | Sales is generally one to one.
Typical marketing activities are Brand Strategy, Consumer research, product development, Advertising, pricing | Typical sales activities are Distribution, retailing, one -one customer interaction, objection handling, product delivery.
I hope the above is clear and helps you understand the difference between sales and marketing.
The bottom-line is:
Both Sales and Marketing are critical functions. One can not survive without the other.
What is a sales manager and what does a sales manager do?
The first place to start when answering the question “What is sales management” is understanding the role of a sales manager. A great sales manager is the person who guides your salespeople and is responsible for:
Setting sales goals and quotas
Motivating and mentoring the team
Creating sales plans and workflows
Hiring and onboarding new hires
Organizing sales training programs
CRM and pipeline management
Ensuring coordination with the sales enablement and marketing teams
Overall team management
These are just some of the responsibilities in a sales manager’s job description. Let’s focus on three of the most important tasks a good sales manager excels at: building the team, defining the sales process and reporting.

Why use FMCG Keyword on Google for keyword research?
Keyword research is one of the first – and most crucial – steps in any search marketing campaign, organic or paid. But most free keyword suggestion tools offer limited results and limited utility, especially when it comes to keyword research for PPC.
To drive search engine traffic, whether through organic search or paid search advertisements, you need the right keywords, plus a process to expand your keyword lists over time.
